Recently, a representative from the company, Total Paintball Gear, announced that they are available to provide assistance to parents and other adults in how to choose the right paintball guns for kids. Mark pointed out that there are several factors that must be taken into consideration when matching the right gun to a particular child.
He explained that there are two different categories of players that can have a bearing on the type of gun an adult may choose for a child. The first is the Scenario Player, which are children who will be competing in an outside area using natural surroundings like rocks, bushes, and trees as part of the game. In the scenario games, players mimic military situations and usually prefer using paintball guns that look more like the real tactical weapons of warfare and gear already being used in the military.
The second type of player he discussed is the Tournament Player. The games played by this kind of player are held on a flat field with inflatable bunkers used as obstacles or places to seek protection. Tournament games are usually very fast paced activities allowing children the freedom to run, dive, slide and shoot in rapid succession. Guns for this type of play need to be of a lighter weight with multiple firing features. Mark points out that the type of play the child will be involved in is only the first half of the equation. Other factors that need to be weighed carefully may include the gun's reliability. Try to choose one that has a consistent performance record on the field. This information is readily available through online review sites that will tell you how often a gun breaks down and needs fixing or if it has continually had problems before.
It is also important to consider the child parents are buying for. Ask questions like whether the children are beginners or if they are adept at adjusting or repairing a gun if it fails in the middle of play.
He cautions that while price may play a major factor in the decision, it should not be the sole criteria for choosing the right gun. He points out that many who buy based on price alone have often ended up regretting it.
Total Paintball Gear explains that there are many other factors that should be analyzed before deciding on the right paintball gun for kids. These may include the available air source, the potential for upgrades in the future, and whether or not getting needed repairs or parts will be readily available.
Professional paintball players know that the sports can be highly active and that there are a lot of different elements to a good game. Choosing the right gun for those children who are looking forward to their first game is key to whether they will enjoy it to the full or they will lose interest.
