Goldrush Getaways is one of the sponsors for this year's event. "We are very excited to help raise money for Agape Villages, there is a desperate need for foster care right here in Northern California" states Jeff Oestreich, President of Goldrush Getaways. "This is a remarkable opportunity to support a great cause and give something to the children who need it the most. Even the smallest contribution goes a long way towards changing their lives for the better. We invite you to join us at the event and enjoy a night alongside similar hearts and minds for the benefit of those in need."
"Come and help yourself to as much food as you can eat," states Oestreich. He adds that all proceeds of the event will go towards providing foster care to children in Northern California, building a path for them that leads toward a better future. "The only thing better than enjoying a fulfilling and delicious meal is doing it for the benefit of others, and this is a great opportunity to have a good time while helping children in need of the community’s help."
The guest speaker for the event will be Austin Stoker, a former Agape foster youth, an Air Force veteran and now a nurse in the Sacramento area. He will share his experience as a member of the Agape foster program, discussing the positive impact that this support had on his life and how it shaped who he is today. Oestreich says, "Hopefully, hearing how important this is from someone who experienced these difficulties firsthand will encourage more people to support this wonderful organization beyond the event. Small actions do have an impact, and stories like Stoker's demonstrate that you should not take anything for granted."
For over 60 years, Agape Villages, a 501(c)3 and licensed foster family agency, has provided foster care and placed children in foster homes in communities throughout Northern California. They serve disadvantaged children, adolescents and young adults from newborns to 21-years of age. The California foster care system is not large enough to provide the care that is needed. Government funding is only a fraction of the amount needed to meet the demand. Agape Villages depends on generous sponsors and donations to cover the difference. They host several fundraising events throughout the year throughout Northern California to raise funds to their cause.
