Twin Cities PC Repair has just posted a blog post on its website that gives advice on how to enhance computer safety during the current virus crisis. This post is called ‘Steer Clear of Coronavirus Scams’. The company decided to post this article because of the number of people that are using deceitful methods online to unscrupulously prosper during the current pandemic. They want their customers and others to know that they are by no means defenseless when it comes to protecting themselves from these well thought out scams.
The proprietor of Twin Cities PC Repair, Patrick Jensen, had this to say on the matter, “These are scary and unpredictable times that we live in at the moment. You would think that because of that people would be more brotherly but that just isn’t always the case and that includes those using the world wide web too. Unfortunately, some see the current COVID-19 crisis as an opportunity to make money from unsuspecting internet users. These coronavirus scams seem to be appearing more frequently each day. I feel that since I am a PC expert, it’s my duty to help both my customers and other internet users protect themselves from these online scams. That is why I took the time to write and post this new blog article on the company website."
In the article, Jensen states it’s meant to outline what people need to watch out for to stay cyber safe. The blog post indicated that there is a lot of fear that surrounds people concerning the virus and this is exactly what scammers take advantage of. They pray on the anxiety and upheaval that the current pandemic has caused. The post went on to give examples of several virus-related tricks that scammers use to try and take advantage of those on the internet. These examples include emails that appear to come from government health departments, offers for tax refunds to get people to click on malicious links, and memos to staff that appear to come from large employers. There have also been reports of scammers creating fake COVID-19 test offerings from private companies, creating false websites promising to sell face masks or hand sanitizer, and bogus sites soliciting donations to help fund a vaccine. It went on to say that websites that use the name COVID-19 alone are enough to lure people into a scam. Jensen writes in the article that there are several ways that people can avoid falling into the traps that these online scams present. This is very important for those that now work from home. The blog post advises people to do such things as be wary of anything online that tries to play on emotions and urges immediate action, question where emails are coming from, avoid downloading anything a computer user didn’t ask for, and doubt any deals that sound too good to be true.
Not only does the company publish helpful blog articles but they also offer a variety of reliable computer services. Jensen mentioned that they specialize in laptop repairs, PC repairs, data backup and recovery, software installation, and malware and computer virus removal. Those who have used this company’s computer and software services appear to be very pleased with the help they have received from Twin Cities PC Repair. On the company’s Google Maps Business Listing, 95 reviews have been left on them with an overall average of 4.9 out of a possible 5-stars. That is much more than respectable for any type of business. Here are a few examples taken from those reviews. Doug Copp writes, “Patrick is a great guy to work with. I’ve known him for years. Any time I’ve had any IT issues he’s fixed me right up. I feel he’s honest, fair, and has great integrity. Support the small business: PC Good Guys. The name couldn’t be more appropriate! Another from Mark Hanno who states, “Hired Patrick to help repair a corrupt operating system on my work PC and restore all my programs/files from a system image I had created previously. Quick turn-around and a fair price. I would absolutely recommend him.”
The proprietor of this twin cities-based computer repair shop also wanted to remind customers that they are still working during the current virus crisis and they can contact him for more advice on how to avoid scams and other computer problems at this uncertain time.
