Oxnard, Calif. – Express Employment Professionals of Ventura County ran a holiday campaign to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ventura County. From November 25th to December 20th, 2020, the Oxnard employment agency promoted ten dollars for every first paycheck earned to be donated to the local nonprofit organization.
The pledge for the ten-dollar gift per paycheck came from the owners, Neil and Janet McMillan. During the holiday drive, the Ventura offices put 102 people to work for the first time with Express, resulting in a donation of 1,020 dollars to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. According to Big Brothers Big Sisters, the proceeds of the donation will be put towards matching “Bigs” to “Littles” within the program.
“We are glad to be able to provide jobs and support the local community through Pay It Forward,” said Neil McMillan. “We are very fortunate to have a non-profit like Big Brothers Big Sisters that provides for the youth of our community.”
Big Brothers Big Sisters is a nonprofit organization that helps youth by providing mentorship opportunities. The program has a history of big results for youth locally, with 98 percent graduating from high school, 83 percent developing a better attitude towards school, and 75 percent more likely to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. Big Brothers Big Sisters specifically promotes one-on-one mentorship, which they believe helps combat large issues for youth in the nation.
