SUN Behavioral Columbus, a mental health and substance use disorder treatment facility located in Columbus, Ohio, will continue supporting clients’ well-being by offering a 3-hour virtual continuing education course for professionals in the counseling field.
The course will provide professionals with a better understanding of spirituality, and how it can be addressed and used holistically to help clients achieve overall well-being.
Here's what they’ll do: Review the four classic styles of therapy, and gain a deeper understanding and how the styles can be used to help clients; Achieve well-being and meaning-making from a spiritual point of view; Gain a better understanding of how spirituality is a crucial part of holistic counseling.
This event will be presented by Licensed Professional Counselor Kristina Walsh. Walsh attended Baldwin-Wallace University where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies with a minor in Sociology. She then went on to receive her Master of Arts in Counseling Ministries from Methodist Theological School.
Walsh started her career at United Methodist Children’s Home (UMCH) Family Services where she worked as a school-based outpatient therapist. Walsh now works as an outpatient therapist for Nemeth Counseling.
Similar to the mission of SUN Columbus, Walsh’s goal is to help clients find balance and healthy self-awareness.
During the course, attendees will learn new assessment tools to use with clients, practical interventions, and therapeutic styles. They will also have the opportunity to speak with other professionals to share ideas.
The course will be held from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Friday, July 23 via Zoom. Once registered, a Zoom link will be provided. Those interested can RSVP now. Space is limited, and spots are expected to be filled quickly.
