FreshBI, a company based in San Antonio, TX, has explained the use of a template app that allows users to connect Salesforce to Power BI. Salesforce is a customer relationship management (CRM) cloud-based tool for managing a company’s interactions with its customer base. Power BI from Microsoft is a cloud-based business intelligence (BI) application to help analyze and visualize data in real-time. Within the Power BI template app can be found all of the vital elements for constructing a simple pipeline model for Salesforce.

FreshBI CEO Craig Juta explains, “A Power BI Template App is a published Power BI solution that can be used by any company that has the data platform for which the Template App was created. Wouldn’t it be nice to pick your entire Power BI Solution off the shelf - one crafted for your specific business needs and your specific data structure. Power BI Template Apps are designed to be such an out-of-the-box solution and we have provided an example of such for a Power BI Solution for Salesforce through our blog post.”

This template can serve as an entry level solution for Salesforce and Power BI, demonstrating the basics but it could offer a starting point for more advanced reporting. Using this template app to explore and connect business data is simple and intuitive. When choosing the “Connect” option, the user will be asked to enter their Salesforce credentials. After following a number of steps, the business data will then flow seamlessly into the Power BI app and the user can start using it immediately.

The Power BI template app is designed to help the user in making business decisions around their Sales Pipeline. This is made possible by displaying the user’s Sales Pipeline in different ways for data visualization. This page has two sections, which are the Dashboard Northern Hemisphere and the Dashboard Southern Hemisphere.

The Dashboard Northern Hemisphere includes the key performance indicators (KPIs) for the big picture, which includes the amount won KPI and a six month win rate. Other data displayed include the: total pipeline in dollars, total amount that hit the pipeline over the previous six months, win rate of all activity to-date, total number of deals closed during the previous six months, and expected sales or the entire pipeline multiplied with the probability of closing for each deal.

The Dashboard Southern Hemisphere displays the forecasted pipeline for the next few months and enables the user to visualize data through amounts and stage names. It is possible to choose to see the probability amounts on the Expected Sales graph to find out what the next few months will be like. The user can choose Pipeline Staging, which allows them to visualize the whole pipeline arranged according to the value attributed to each stage of the sale. The user may also choose the 6 Month Pipeline on the Closing Month, segmented by stage, which displays the projected close dates for all deals, separated by their present stage of the sale.

Craig Juta says, “At FreshBI, we’ve lowered the barriers, risk and cost of developing world-class Power BI dashboards so that you can unlock the value in your data.
