Lexington, KY - Altruism Counseling recently launched a new website that is easy to navigate, with the menu at the site's top center. People can easily find the programs they offer in this menu on their front page, under a heading labeled “Services”. The menu also links their process for medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and their “About” section. One can easily find their scheduling portal through the main menu as well, allowing a convenient way to schedule without having to call a phone number. The main menu also links to a form that allows people to contact them; however, the same form is also available on any of the pages listed within the menu, which makes it simple to contact them at any point while exploring their site. Linked pages to their admissions process and other resources they offer are also available on this main menu.
“At Altruism Counseling, we are committed to offering top-tier services for a variety of people. Addiction is not one size fits all, and certain people will require more or less services than others. Our team provides individual assessments that help us gauge what program and path will best fit your needs,” their new website states.
The home page of the site also clearly states the several insurances they take, including all the forms of Medicaid in Kentucky. It includes descriptions of their substance use disorder services and DUI services and includes a brief About Us section. Towards the bottom of the home page, it includes pictures of the facility where patients are often seen. The very bottom of the home page includes their credentials, address, phone number, and hours, which are all clearly labeled and noticeable.
The mobile version of their new site is also easily accessible. When clicking on the top center menu icon, it cleanly brings up the same menu as the desktop version of the site. The one thing that is different about the mobile version when compared to the desktop version is that it includes a large phone number button at the bottom of the phone’s viewing screen. This button makes it easy to call the facility without having to search for the number or type it into one’s phone..
In reference to their programs tab, Altruism Counseling offers individual counseling, outpatient therapy, and intensive outpatient therapy. Individual counseling allows each client to address their unique circumstances and develop a plan of action that will lead to recovery. Outpatient therapy occurs on Tuesday afternoons, and intensive outpatient takes place on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings. They combine recovery dynamics, living in balance, and the matrix model. This combination allows clients to identify triggers, establish new coping skills, and learn how to prevent a return to use. They treat all types of substance use disorders with a 12-step approach.
Altruism Counseling was founded on principles from Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.), which focuses on the altruistic movement used in a 12-step program. As people progress through the 12th step, they provide sponsorship and support for others attempting to recover without a profit motive. This idea is why A.A. has continued over the decades. It is the idea that one person in recovery shares their experience with another person in a similar situation. In turn, the connection allows those who are seeking recovery from substance use disorders to hear other people’s experiences, strengths, and hopes.
“The definition of altruism is giving selflessly to others. When it comes to those living with addiction, altruism is often the last worry on their mind. No matter what substance - alcohol, cocaine, meth, or heroin - all that matters is finding a way to get the substance. This is often done through selfish ways such as stealing and lying to loved ones. The person learns to live their life alone, as alienation ensues after continued use of their substance of choice. That is where the main goal of recovery comes into play - learning to love yourself and love others again,” their site continues.
Altruism Counseling, located at 271 W Short St, Suite 508, Lexington, KY 40507, helps people recover from substance use disorders. To accomplish this, they offer DUI and anger management classes, which allow clients to recover from a substance use disorder in the ways that best serve them. They accept Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial insurance but also have options for paying in cash.
