Sunday Salon says it continues to welcome balayage clients from Five Points and surrounding Raleigh neighborhoods following its move to Raleigh Iron Works. Five Points is one of several inner-Raleigh neighborhoods where clients are now booking hand-painted color appointments.
Sunday Salon provides balayage services to clients across Five Points, using a hand-painted technique that the salon says builds dimensional lift and soft regrowth lines, in contrast to the harder demarcation lines produced by traditional foiling. The salon's colorists work from its Raleigh Iron Works location, serving clients across Five Points and the surrounding Raleigh neighborhoods, an area that sits within the salon's confirmed service radius from that location.
Hand-painting is the technique that balayage is built around, applied freehand rather than through foils, so that color grows out along a soft line instead of a hard regrowth band. Foiling isolates each section between sheets of foil, producing a defined line where color meets the natural hair as it grows out; hand-painting applies color directly to sections of dry or damp hair without that isolation. A finishing gloss is applied after the lightening step to blend the tone before the client leaves the chair. Sunday Salon's balayage service uses that freehand method for clients across Five Points and the salon's other Raleigh neighborhoods.
Five Points clients have responded to that soft, blended grow-out between appointments, according to the salon. Sunday Salon's colorists place the lightened sections to follow the hair's natural growth pattern, so the line between color and regrowth softens gradually instead of appearing all at once at the roots.

Balayage is a color service that Sunday Salon's clients frequently book, according to the salon, with its color team specializing in hand-painted techniques. That team works from Raleigh Iron Works across the Stylist, Master Stylist, and Master Colorist tiers. Since the move to Raleigh Iron Works, the team says it has continued to see color bookings extend beyond the immediate area, with Five Points among the neighborhoods it points to most often.
Balayage and lived-in color are both among the most requested color services at Sunday Salon's Raleigh Iron Works location. Colorists on the Master Colorist tier, the salon's highest color-specialist grade, work across both techniques, since freehand placement is central to each, even though the two produce different finished looks.
