CLEARWATER, FL - October 18, 2026 -
Insight Psychological Services, PLLC is highlighting parent consultation as a resource for parents in Clearwater and throughout the Tampa Bay area who are struggling to understand a change in their child's behavior or aren't sure how to respond.
Insight Psychological Services, PLLC provides parent consultation in Clearwater, Florida, working with parents from across Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties in person and with parents elsewhere in the state by telehealth. Dr. Nicole Stuart, the owner and licensed clinical psychologist, has led the practice since its founding in 2025. Consultation sessions are held with the parents rather than the child, and can run on their own or alongside individual sessions for a child or teenager already seeing the practice.
The situation the practice describes usually begins with something a parent notices rather than something they are told. A child's behavior shifts, a routine that worked stops working, or a teenager who had been managing starts pulling away, and the parent ends up responding in the moment without a clear sense of what is driving it. By the time an appointment is made, most parents have tried several approaches already and found that none of them held.
“Parents often come to me feeling like they’ve tried everything. They’re not lacking effort or care, they just need someone to help them understand what’s happening and figure out what to do next.” said Dr. Nicole Stuart. "Parenting does not have to feel like a constant guessing game. My work with a parent is about understanding what is actually going on for their child and then leaving them with a plan they can use at home. They should walk out feeling supported rather than judged or blamed."
What the sessions cover varies with the child's age. For younger children, parents more often want guidance on behavior, routines, boundaries, transitions, and emotional regulation, and the work tends to concentrate on structure and consistency at home. Anxiety, perfectionism, academic pressure, difficulty managing emotions, and a change in how a young person is functioning come up more often where older children and adolescents are concerned. The practice's parent consultation page carries further detail.
Adolescents who appear to be doing well on the outside are a common reason parents contact. Strong grades, commitments held down without complaint, and little outward sign of difficulty can coexist with significant internal stress, and the parents noticing it are frequently unsure whether what they are seeing warrants acting on. Consultation gives parents a place to describe what they have observed without having to decide in advance what it means.
Sessions are built around working with the parents rather than simply trying to correct the child's behavior. When parents feel heard, supported, and prepared, they are often better able to respond to their child with consistency and confidence. Identifying what may be contributing to a behavior comes before deciding what to do about it, and the plan is created with the family in mind because what works for one child or family may not work for another.
Because the practice also offers individual therapy for children, teenagers, and adults alongside couples and family work, a family's arrangement can change without it having to start again somewhere new. A parent who begins with consultation alone may later decide that their child would benefit from individual sessions, or may keep consultation running in parallel with them. Sessions are 55 minutes and are booked directly with the practice, either by phone or through a confidential online form.
Parents do not have to be in crisis or know exactly what is wrong before reaching out for consultation. Sometimes they simply know that something has changed, and they aren't sure what to do next. Parent consultation gives them a place to talk through those concerns, better understand what may be happening, and develop a practical plan for home. Parent consultation continues alongside the individual, couples, and family caseload the practice carries in Clearwater and across Pinellas and Hillsborough Counties. Insight Psychological Services also shares practical mental health information and resources through its Instagram page.
