Birth Injury Advocate has announced an alliance between Banville Law and The Weitz Firm, LLC to publish plain-language information about birth injury litigation and related legal procedures in New York, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. The initiative brings together attorneys from the two firms to provide cited educational materials addressing legal questions that can arise after a birth injury diagnosis.
“Birth injury cases involve medical records, legal standards, filing requirements, and terminology that can be difficult to organize without a clear source of information,” said Laurence Banville, Esq., founder of Banville Law. “Birth Injury Advocate was established to publish cited materials in plain language and explain the legal processes that may apply to these cases.”

Birth Injury Advocate operates through an alliance between Banville Law, which handles matters in New York and Washington, D.C., and The Weitz Firm, LLC, which handles matters in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The participating firms maintain their respective legal practices while contributing to a shared informational resource concerning birth injury claims and civil litigation.
The initiative focuses on explaining how birth injury cases are evaluated under the laws and procedures applicable in the jurisdictions served by the participating firms. Legal requirements can differ by jurisdiction, including filing deadlines, procedural rules, evidentiary requirements, and standards governing medical malpractice claims. The circumstances of an individual case determine which rules and legal standards apply.
Birth injury litigation generally requires an examination of medical records associated with pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postnatal care. Records can include prenatal documentation, fetal monitoring information, medication records, delivery notes, imaging, laboratory results, neonatal records, and other clinical materials. Attorneys evaluating a matter may also examine the sequence of medical events and the standards applicable to the healthcare professionals and institutions involved.
The presence of an injury does not by itself establish medical negligence. A legal evaluation considers the relevant standard of care, the actions or omissions alleged in the matter, causation, and documented injuries. Medical evidence and expert review can become part of that process when required by the applicable jurisdiction and circumstances.
Birth Injury Advocate publishes material addressing these concepts in plain language and identifies sources where appropriate. The resource is structured to distinguish general information about medical conditions from information concerning legal procedures. Published materials do not establish whether malpractice occurred in an individual case and do not predict the result of litigation.
The alliance also addresses differences in the procedures governing claims in New York, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. Statutes of limitations and other filing requirements can vary according to jurisdiction, the identity of the parties, the age of the injured person, and other circumstances. The participating law firms evaluate legal matters according to the laws and procedural requirements applicable to each case.
Banville Law maintains a legal practice that includes matters arising in New York and Washington, D.C. Laurence Banville, Esq. serves as the firm's founder and is one of the attorneys associated with the Birth Injury Advocate initiative. Information concerning the initiative and its published materials is available through Birth Injury Advocate.
The Weitz Firm, LLC participates in the initiative for matters arising in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The firm's role gives the resource a separate legal practice responsible for those jurisdictions while allowing the participating attorneys to maintain a common body of educational material concerning birth injury litigation.
The Birth Injury Advocate resource covers subjects that can arise during the evaluation of a potential claim, including medical documentation, legal deadlines, standards of care, expert review, and litigation procedures. The site also addresses terminology that families may encounter when reviewing medical and legal information after a birth injury.
The alliance is intended to separate educational information from case-specific legal analysis. Online materials provide general explanations, while determinations concerning a particular matter depend on its medical records, facts, jurisdiction, applicable law, and other evidence. Publication of information by Birth Injury Advocate does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Additional information about the participating attorneys and their respective practices can be found through Banville Law and The Weitz Firm, LLC. Birth Injury Advocate will continue publishing cited, plain-language materials concerning birth injury litigation and the legal procedures applicable in the jurisdictions covered by the participating firms.
