The first award won by the Austin fine jewlery designer was the elite international Saul Bell Design Award. The Saul Bell Design Award offers a chance for jewelers to reach for greater heights of skill, knowledge and imagination as they conceive and execute a career-defining design. The best jewelers from around the world compete to be recognized for excellence in jewelry design in seven different categories.
Zoltan took the coveted 1st place in the Alternative Metals/Materials category for his piece, "Moonshine." He remarked, "My inspiration is moonlight reflecting on water. I love the alchemy of this piece; turning black metal into water and light. On the back, you see a wolf howling at the moon, all coming to life in platinum. The materials that I used to create this precious metal art were black Knightsteel, inlaid platinum, moonstone, and diamonds."
In addition, on July 25th, the American Gem Trade Association announced the winners of their prestigious AGTA Spectrum AwardsTM. The Austin based jewelry designer continued to strengthen the image of Austin fine jewelry, with his unique style of master goldsmithing and exquisite design. He won a number of awards in this international competition.
First was third place in the Business/Day Wear Category for his palladium and 22k yellow gold ring. "It's truly a stunning piece," states Zoltan. "The palladium and yellow gold feature are a 4.12 carat Danburite, which is accented with 70 pastel blue sapphires which are graduated in size."
In addition, Zoltan took Platinum Honors in the Classical Category for his platinum pendant. The pendant features a 35.63 carat marquis moonstone cabochon and is set in blue patina bronze inlaid with pure platinum on a strand of cabochon moonstones, 18.20 total carats, as well as 1.20 total carats of diamonds.
