LEESBURG, VA – Gypsy Jack, LLC introduced a new, smaller line of bass lures for fly fishing May 11.
The three mini top water lures are made from lightweight flexible foam, with each weighing less than 1/32 of an ounce. Their body size ranges from 1/2” to 3/4”. Two of the lures are propeller baits, while the third is a popper. Each features a single, lightweight treble hook and a swivel tie-on to prevent to twisted and knotted leaders.
“These mini lures were designed in response to requests from fly fishermen who are used to casting uber-light flies and lures for trout and bluegill,” explained Gypsy Jack owner Mark Osburn. “Those fishermen can tie on these super-lightweight lures and easily cast for bass using shorter, lighter-rated fly rods.”
The propeller baits, called Savannah Slim and Beetle Buzz, feature opposite body types. While Savannah has a long, skinny, tapered body, Buzz looks like a pot-bellied bug. Each creates a soft sputter courtesy of a free-spinning nickel-plated torpedo propeller mounted above the hook.
The third lure, Cracked Jack, looks like a scaled-down version of conventional bass popper-type baits. Jack’s cupped mouth helps it create a ruckus, while its treble hook is dressed with alluring silicone skirts in a variety of colors.
The lures are available in more than a dozen different color patterns. They can be purchased separately or in bundles of six.
