Aftermath: Surviving Psychopathy Foundation is a non-profit charity organization striving to educate the public about psychopathy and provide assistance to people who have become victims of someone's psychopathic behavior. The Foundation has recently attained Gold Status on GuideStar, an online resource that disseminates information on IRS-registered nonprofits in order to increase an organization's transparency and legitimacy to potential donors.
"We are really excited to receive this status," said Katherine Bubeleva, a member of Aftermath's Fundraising and Website Committees. "The Gold Status is the highest level currently attainable and indicates that The Aftermath Foundation provides accurate and up to date information about its financial stability, and its goals and strategies, as well as its capabilities, indicators, and progress in achieving these goals."
The Aftermath Foundation is dedicated to informing the public about the nature of psychopathy and its cost to individuals and society. Contrary to popular opinion, not all psychopaths are serial killers and mass murderers. However, even the less violent psychopaths can still cause an incredible amount of damage.
As research shows, people with psychopathic traits can be found not only in jails and prisons but in all walks of life - for instance in business settings, in romantic and family relationships, and on college campuses.
According to the Aftermath Foundation's Co-Treasurer, Jamie Curno, "The Guidestar Foundation is important because it reports information about foundations all over the United States and helps people see whether nonprofits are following legitimate procedures and are accomplishing goals related to their mission. This recognition by Guidestar will help us to reach more people and help them cope more effectively with psychopathic individuals."
The Aftermath Foundation describes psychopathy as a disorder characterized by a personality in which the individual focuses on his or her sole needs and desires and uses manipulation, deceit and exploitation to achieve these selfish goals. The Foundation's ultimate goal is to reduce the negative impact of psychopathy on the families, friends, co-workers, and victims of psychopathic individuals. Discover more about psychopathy here.
