November 18, 2016 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

Melody Nolan has established TreasureLives, an organization dedicated to preventing suicide. The organization is designed to honor the memory of her brother, Jonathan Lazarus, who died in 2013.

TreasureLives and Melody Nolan are pleased to announce the launch of a fund-raising effort for their program which is dedicated to suicide prevention and other activities. The organization hosts a YouTube channel to broadcast personal testimonies of individuals who were saved from committing suicide. The YouTube channel also includes memorials for those individuals who have been lost due to suicide. Melody's brother, Jonathan Lazarus, died in 2013. Her original effort was the establishment of Lazarus Treasures, an eBay store which benefits the Yellow Ribbon Suicide Prevention Program.

The vision of TreasureLives includes the development of a mental health awareness curriculum from elementary school through college. With adequate funding, there are plans to provide advocacy for seniors, veterans and those with disabilities in the area of mental health. The program will continue to sponsor the eBay store and will promote the efforts of other suicide prevention and awareness programs.

In a recent interview, Melody explained, “Through the process of setting up the store and educating myself about how to market the business, I found my real talents lie in networking and education. With a Bachelor's in criminal justice and a Master's in counseling, my goal is to start an organization, TreasureLives, which will not only sponsor Lazarus Treasures but will also provide written and video educational materials about mental health and suicide prevention.”

She continued: “Eventually, we hope to achieve the status of a non-profit organization, but there are lives that need saving now. Therefore, we are seeking funding for writers and producers for educational materials; for editors for written and video testimonials; for the promotion and maintenance of the Lazarus Treasures eBay store; for networking, advertising, website maintenance, business management, social media optimization, and everything else it takes to run a successful organization.”

Those who wish to contribute may do so by clicking on the “Donations” link on the TreasureLives website and following the prompts to YouCaring.com. The contribution to YouCaring may be adjusted or eliminated by clicking on the link next to the final donation amount. We have chosen YouCaring because it is the only crowdfunding source that does not take a mandatory percentage of contributions for administrative costs.
