KINGSTON, JM – Acclaimed reggae superstar, Junior Reid, was one of several performers to entertain patrons onboard the third annual Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise. The Jamaican musical stalwart performed on November 18, the final night of the cruise, and thrilled the crowd with his extensive catalogue of roots reggae and dancehall hits.
Performing while the ship was at sea, Junior Reid had people jumping and cheering with many of his old favourites, including “Foreign Mind,” “Rappa Pam Pam,” and “Fit You Haffe Fit.” Reid, who has collaborated with numerous international artists, also treated guests to several selections from his new album, The Living Legend, such as “Blue Light, Red Light,” Never Let You Go,” “Love Me Back,” and “Sauce,” which was well received by the audience.
The Welcome to Jamrock Cruise was organized by Jamrock Productions and took place on board Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Sea luxury vessel. Guests were taken on a 5-night cruise, which began and ended at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and included stops in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios, well-known tourist destinations in Jamaica. The event provided guests with a mix of top class entertainment by local and international acts, exquisite accommodation aboard the cruise liner, and tasty cuisine delights.
Guests also had the opportunity to get up close and personal with Junior Reid and other celebrities, including Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley, Stephen “Ragga” Marley, Beenie Man, Mavado, and Tarrus Riley, among others. Additional entertainment was provided by a selection of top-rated DJs, such as Nikki Z, Colin Hines, Kurt Riley, and Foota Hype, as well as by sound systems, including Stone Love, Mighty Crown, and Kingston 12. Other activities available to patrons included pools, whirlpools, a basketball court, and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
Junior Reid’s performance during the Welcome to Jamrock Reggae Cruise comes as the artist’s latest album continues to get rave reviews from fans and music lovers. The Living Legend is currently available on CD Baby and various other music download portals.
