"The Christmas Pickle", a bedtime story written by Paul Beasant from Halifax, Canada, and illustrated by Richard Black, has been launched on KickStarter. It discusses the story of mommy and daddy who love to hide the pickle every Christmas Eve and then provide the child who finds it on Christmas with an extra gift. It is a fun, saucy little book that will be a perennial favorite with kids and adults alike. This KickStarter project can be accessed at https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rich-black/the-christmas-pickle-childrens-holiday-book.
"I have felt a story bubbling inside me for years, and with the Christmas period just around the corner, I felt now was the time to release it," says author Paul Beasant. "The story of the Christmas pickle is personal to me, with my parents having hidden the pickle for me and my siblings for years. I do the same with my children now, continuing on with the tradition. The story, as such, is very much a personal experience as well."
Through simple prose and endearing illustrations, the book tells the story of the growing tradition of hiding a pickle ornament on the Christmas tree at Christmas Eve. Then, in the morning, the child who is first to find the festive pickle will be entitled to an extra present.
The partnership between Beasant and Black has created a story told in a way that will entertain children, while proving plenty of laughs for the adults as well. This is done through a series of carefully worded double entendres.
Beasant and Black are new to the business. As virgin professionals, their dream was to make sure parents all over the planet will be able to hide the pickle this Christmas Eve, starting a tradition that will last them a lifetime. A number of images have been uploaded to the KickStarter pledge page to show people some of the images that they will be able to enjoy once they pledge towards the book.
Those who want to make a pledge towards its full release, or who would like to schedule an interview with Paul Beasant and/or Richard Black, are encouraged to telephone or email him as soon as possible.

The book will be 'self-published' and the lion's share of our funding will go towards getting properly set-up as self-publishers and cover the initial run of printed books.
