January 21, 2017 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

A new survey by healthbulletin.org reveals that up to 75% of Americans support government’s efforts to increase investments in health. The announcement comes barely months after another research found out that today’s children have a higher chance of growing up with unhealthy eating habits and physical behaviors that encourage obesity or lifestyle related diseases.

“We found out that more Americans support investments in health and lifestyle related campaigns that most people could have guessed. More than 50% of our correspondents believe that the government should increase its health investments for the sake of our children. People who dwell in urban areas are however more specific about the areas of health they think the government should invest in. About 55% of our correspondents in these areas believe that the government should work towards helping people embrace healthy lifestyles,” Jim Sparrow, the website founder said.

According to the survey by healthbulletin.org, data from the World Health Organization and other researchers, Americans are now more accepting of the healthy issues facing their country today than previous generations. Sparrow also says that their survey reveals that Americans are wildly concerned by the alarming rate of obesity in the country at the moment. At second, Americans are concerned by cancer, heart diseases and then other lifestyle issues like diabetes and drug misuse.

“Americans are deeply concerned by the overwhelming cases of obesity in the country. Cancer, heart diseases and diabetes follows suit and then drug abuse follows at a distance. As you can see, most of American’s concerns are about some preventable health related diseases, except for some types of cancer,” Mr. Sparrow said.

The survey from healthbulletin.org does however reveal some concerning statistics about the state of the country at the moment. About one third of Americans from high income families do not see the need to increase investments in health. This according to Suzie Hardman, the spokesperson of health bulletin, follows a revelation that Americans from higher income families believe to be in a better health conditions compared to the middle and low income families. On the other hand, married people in the country are more supportive of investments in helping children adopt healthy lifestyle behaviors than single people.

“In our survey, more than half of people whose income fall below $50,000 per year believe that the government should invest more in healthy foods and resources to help fight health related diseases. When it comes to parents and their children, up to 74% of married people think the government should invest further in educating children about physical activities, healthy foods and how to stay physically active,” Ms. Hardman said.

Healthbulletin.org however wishes to play some part in educating people about healthy lifestyles. According to Mr. Sparrow, his organization has plans to launch a website that will be fully concerned about health journalism; lifestyle related advertising, health advice and information that may help people make better decisions when it comes to their health.
