Alan Dysert, founder of The Singer's School, announced that when a student enrolls, they will be learning far more than what a typical voice and singing instructor usually offers. He said that the school is dedicated to ensuring that every student has all the skills needed to not only sing and perform well, but to also be able to succeed in the music industry from a business perspective.
The Singer's School has already helped nine clients to receive Grammys, and another 15 to receive CMA awards. Alan said that it takes a lot of business sense to make it in the music industry, and that this is one area that many singing schools tend to overlook. All of the instructors at The Singer's School currently work full-time in the music industry. Because of this, they know the latest trends and hot markets, and can pass this valuable information over to their students. More importantly, he added, is that all of the music instructors are extremely passionate about music, and want to share this valuable information with the students. Alan stated the following:
"A performer needs to work with a 'net' so they can take chances and not worry about 'the fall' during the developmental stages. I was trained by great teachers in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, but there always seemed to be a degree of intimidation and a certain amount of arrogance in the classroom. That will never be the case in any class taught by me or any instructor who works with me. We will always keep in mind that dreams and dreamers are fragile. Sensitive people make great performers but their talent and confidence can be easily damaged by the wrong teacher."
The Singer's School stated that while having a great voice is important, confidence is crucial as well. One of the goals of the instructors is to help students overcome challenges that can affect their confidence, because this can make or break an audition. In addition, students will learn how to overcome stage fright or public speaking, as these fears can also become a hindrance in helping an artist move forward in this industry.
Alan said that their classes and workshops have also been developed to help students understand how business sense plays a crucial role in getting them where they need to be. They remind students that this is a career, and so it requires far more than just training the voice in order to be successful. By having a deep understanding of how the music industry works, students will have the right tools needed in order to not only become successful, but to maintain that success.
