March 09, 2017 - PRESSADVANTAGE -
The One Man Shoot is an annual event in Denham Springs, Louisiana, which is a clay shooting contest with the goal of raising money for research done through the Tulane Cancer Center in New Orleans. The event has been set for March 24, 2017 in Denham Springs, Louisiana, and will provide funding for prostate cancer research. The event was co-founded by Randy Hays and the late Connie Mack.
Randy Hays says, "Connie Mack's battle was not about beating cancer for himself. It was about preventing others from having to fight the same fight. That's why none of the funds The One Man Shoot has raised went toward Connie Mack's medical expenses. Every penny goes directly to the Tulane Cancer Center for prostate cancer and awareness."
Hays points out that instead of paying for Mack's expenses, the money raised during the annual One Man Shoot event went directly to the Tulane University School of Medicine, to fund research which is currently being conducted by Dr. Oliver Sator. Dr. Sator is a medical oncologist who studies prostate cancer through basic research and from a clinical perspective. He has conducted clinical trials in advanced cancer cases with various combinations of novel drugs.
Hays says, "Connie Mack was very passionate about this cause. He was also very proud of each individual on the One Man Shoot Committee, each donor, each volunteer, each shooter/participant, and the entire group at Tulane Cancer Center, where all of the cutting-edge research and development is happening day in and day out. The One Man Shoot Committee is still very committed to this cause, but with a renewed strength and even greater passion. We truly believe now more than ever before that "One Man Can Make a Difference." Connie Mack certainly did, and we believe he still is."
Hays states that all funding received from the event will further Dr. Sartor's Prostate Cancer Research Fund and the organization hopes that they can someday find a cure for this disease that affects tens of thousands of men each year. Those interested in learning more about the event or the cancer center's research can visit the One Man Shoot official website.
