Donald Esclares, spokesperson for the company Merchanture, has announced that they have released a few etiquette tips for hotel guests to make their stay at hotels more enjoyable, and to also make life easier for the hardworking hotel housekeepers. The company specializes in travel accessory products as well as providing luggage tags that make luggage easy to locate.
For most people, the idea of being treated like royalty at a hotel resort is very enticing. The whole idea behind vacationing is not to simply relax, but to also be pampered, because work life can take a lot out of a person. Donald Esclares adds that while everybody deserves this type of high-quality service at any hotel resort, they should be mindful that during their stay, others are working hard to pamper them. It is true that they are getting paid to do so, but it is still hard work, and they are still people. Donald stated the following,
"Housekeepers have a pretty tough job, as they have to move around a lot, going from one room to another in order to clean up the mess of customers staying at the resort. While doing the job, they tend to climb a lot of stairs, move around furniture, and partake in every other type of exhausting motion to have their hotel guests' room ready for them once they get back from the beach, excursion, or day at the pool."
Don stated that most housekeepers enjoy what they do. However, as with any job, there are certain inconveniences that are usually caused by others that can be avoided. While a housekeeper has no problem with cleaning up a few papers that has dropped to the floor, it can be a huge chore when a hotel guest acts like a slob. A big tip from many housekeepers is to treat one's room as they would their own house. To truly have a great vacation, people want to be in an environment that is neat and tidy. This also motivates a housekeeper to want to do more for a particular room because all the other unnecessary work is already out of the way. Keeping organized also prevents unnecessary losses of items such as luggage tags, socks, watches and other important papers.
Another etiquette rule that Donald Esclares feels vacationers should abide by is being careful with the Do Not Disturb sign. Housekeepers understand that sometimes people just need a bit of privacy. However, many vacationers tend to forget that they left the sign on the door, or they decide not to be disturbed for a whole day. When this happens, it is impossible for a housekeeper to tidy up, and like everyone else, they also have a checkout time, which is usually around 5 PM. After that time, hotel guests will have to wait till the next day before they can finally get someone to do some housekeeping.
