It was found that fifteen of eighteen participants showed a positive treatment effect (83%) with 90% of the patients reporting satisfaction with the treatment. Vicks Vaporub works due to active and inactive ingredients like thymol, menthol, camphor, and oil of Eucalyptus that are effective against dermatophytes in vitro, a common pathogen that causes toenail onychomycosis.
