It can be difficult to identify the differences between nail psoriasis and melanoma, as both these conditions have the similar symptoms. Melanoma in the nail unit can lead to symptoms such as thicker nails, ingrown toenails, nail dystrophy and a bleeding mass. In cases wherein, the condition is diagnosed to be a fungal infection, a lack of proper response to treatments should lead to multiple tests and biopsies to ensure an early diagnosis of melanoma.
