The “Mermaids Of Earth” Kickstarter project has passed the halfway mark and is on target to make its funding goal. “Mermaids Of Earth” is a 200-page coffee-table book, featuring color photos of mermaid statues around the world. The project has set goals for publication and distribution of the book. The fundraising campaign ends September 17th.
“We’re halfway there by the calendar, and we’re a little over halfway to meeting our goals,” says project creator, Philip Jepsen. “This is very exciting. We’re offering some fantastic gifts at very reasonable pledge levels, and people are really responding. I expected interest in mermaids to be high, but this is so far exceeding expectations. People have been happy to contribute to getting this off the ground.”
The goal of the project is to raise funding for the printing of a set volume of the “Mermaids Of Earth” books in order to go into distribution. If the funding goals are met the book will be ready in plenty of time for the holiday season. The book is unique in that it is the first such book to showcase mermaid statues, lore and activities from around the world, capturing photographic and informational record of mermaid statues. This is a passion project of Mister Jepsen’s, and he has been working on it for several years.
“It started on a trip across the American heartland,” says Mister Jepsen. “I saw a replica of one of the most famous mermaid statues in the world in, of all places, Iowa. Having grown up in Denmark I was very familiar with the original, and suddenly, seeing it featured in that setting, sparked my imagination. How many other mermaid statues were there around the world? I set out to find out for myself, and was amazed with what I discovered. This book is the culmination of that process.”
“Mermaids Of Earth” is a 12 inch by 12 inch hardcover coffee-table book, 200 pages in length. It has hundreds of full-color photos of mermaid statues from around the world. The book contains information on each statue and information on the history and legends of mermaids in different cultures.
