Gross & Schuster, a Fort Walton Beach accident attorney firm, has completed a new piece of research into the statistics of car crashes in the local area. This came after Florida as a whole was found to rank 3rd in the country for reckless and careless driving. Additionally, a new report has stated that there has been a significant increase in traffic and car crash accidents in Escambia County in particular.
"We were dismayed to read the latest FIRES (Florida's Integrated Report Exchange System) report," says Terrence A. Gross from Gross & Schuster. "The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles had contacted them to look at the state of the roads and the Fort Walton Beach area in particular fared very poorly. They obtained all traffic car crash reports from the various law enforcement agencies in the state and things are looking pretty grim."
The Fort Walton Beach auto accident attorney firm was able to obtain statistics about Okaloosa County, Santa Rosa County, and Escambia County between January 1, 2016 and the present. They looked at the number of crash reports between those dates, how many injuries were reported, how many vehicles were involved in the accidents, how many injuries were sustained in total, and more. Many of those cases are now being represented by Gross & Schuster, which is why they were of particular interest.
The report revealed that there had been a total of 5,102 crashes. These involved 9,577 individual vehicles. In just under half (2,238) of the crashes, injuries were sustained. In fact, there were a total of 3,754 individual injuries. Unfortunately, there were also 35 traffic fatalities and 20 fatalities among drivers.
