October 16, 2018 - PRESSADVANTAGE -
Orlando, Florida / October 16, 2018 / This year, 82% of Construction Firms and General Contractors have been heavily dependent on Construction Recruiters to deliver top talent just to stay up with their current construction project backlog. While many firms are facing the reality of decreased revenue and lower profits due to the lack of key Superintendents and Project Managers to adequately run the projects.

At the start of 2018, Dodge Data & Analytics (Construction.com) released their Dodge Construction Outlook Report that predicted construction starts in the U.S. for 2018 would climb to $765 billion.
Also on the rise is construction firm payroll, with 75% of general contractors taking on new talent in 2018, as reported in a survey by the Associated General Contractors of America (AGC).
“This optimism is likely based on current economic conditions, increasingly business-friendly regulatory environment and the current political administration pushing for more nationwide construction projects,” mentioned Stephen E. Sandherr, Chief Executive Officer of AGC.
Supporting that payroll figure is Labor Department data revealing that between June 2017 to June 2018, construction employment increased in 272 out of 358 major U.S. metropolitan areas. Continuing an upward trend from the prior reporting period.
Matt Richards, Managing Partner with JPI Executive Search, a construction recruiting firm that specializes in recruiting and representing top construction executives and key construction leadership positions, said, “The AGC report titled ‘Expecting Growth to Continue: The 2018 Construction Hiring and Business Outlook’ included input from over 1,000 firms from 49 states and the District of Columbia, cited that construction firms increasing their headcount was up over last year. We’ve definitely seen significant demand within certain companies.”
Despite talent labor woes and key workforce shortages, demand for positions at construction firms, general contractors, real estate developers and design-build firms, is growing across the country with continued hiring at all position levels, from assistant-level to senior-level. Key positions include: field engineers, estimators, construction superintendents, project managers (APM’s, PM’s and SPM’s), pre-construction managers (precon) and construction managers.
“In order for construction firms and general contractors (GC’s) to complete projects on time and on budget, they need immediate access to key experienced talent ready to hit the ground running, literally,” said Josh Rae, CEO of JPI.
