If one is looking to spend more than a day in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada; there is now a website that can help them find accommodations in the city for their stay.
The name of the website that this informational hotel guide appears on is called “Sarnia Living”. Ryan Powell, editor in chief of the site, had this to say as to why the website was originally created: “The concern of many of those that contributed to bringing the website to fruition was that Sarnia lagged behind other similar cities as far as its online presence. Those in the local community were proud of their city and needed a way to share what they liked best about it with others. They also were looking for ways to connect their local businesses with the online community. Out of this, the Sarnia Living website was born. It now showcases all in one place the many things that the City of Sarnia has to offer.”
The Sarnia Living Hotel Guide fits perfectly into what the website creators hoped to accomplish with it. It gives those who are interested in attending the various events a good resource to find accommodations if they choose to stay overnight while attending them.
Ryan elaborated on some of the information that’s contained in the website’s hotel guide; he says, “It was decided that the best way for one to find a hotel through the hotel guide was to arrange the web page by popular hotel categories. These include such popular hotel searches as ones that feature indoor swimming pools or higher end business suites. Also included is a section on pet-friendly hotels and those that are near Sarnia’s casino. There is even a list of hotels that are close to the Progressive Sarnia Arena where the popular local junior hockey team plays their home games during the winter months.”
A google map section on the hotel guide web page pinpoints many of the listed hotel's exact locations and also shows nearby attractions and restaurants.
Sarnia Living’s hotel guide even mentions that local residents have been making their homes and cottages available for rentals through such popular vacation accommodation websites such as Airbnb. These are great if one is looking to find a place to stay right on the shoreline that borders the city.
The Sarnia Living website is not the only way that Ryan and his support staff have been getting out the message that Sarnia is a great place to live and visit. They now have an informative Sarnia Living Facebook Page too. Ryan said they were currently exploring other social media avenues to spread the word about Sarnia and all it has to offer too.
In the Sarnia Living website, it also points out that there are many reasons that one would want to come to visit Sarnia for a holiday or on a free weekend. Among them is the fact that the city is rich in history. Sarnia itself is located in a picturesque setting on the banks of the St. Clair River and the shore of Lake Huron. It was first settled by Native Americans and has changed greatly over the years as many European settlers and invading armies encroached upon the area.
Iconic landmarks in the area include the Blue Water Bridge which connects Sarnia to Port Huron, Michigan on the American side of the St. Clair River. The first of its twin spans were completed in 1938. There are places to park near the Sarnia entrance to the bridge so onlookers can observe the bridge and any of the many freighters passing under it that they want to look at.
If one wants to learn more about the steep history of the City of Sarnia, all they have to do is go to the Sarnia history page at the top of the Sarnia Living website and then click on it.
