Gemma is responsible for writing the story for each book and the music and musical compositions for the videos. Olo is in charge of drawing by hand all of the illustrations. Those who would like to know more about the “Kevin the Ghost” videobook can view the trailer that has recently been made available on Vimeo.

Gemma Gariel herself says, “We have just released one more of our original videobooks for kids. Each one is a fairy tale with a moral story. It shows that evil forces will never win. It is only the power of Love that will prevail. With each videobook, children can enjoy being immersed in a fantasy world where their minds explore a multidimensional universe, which serves to stimulate their imagination and creative thinking. Ms. Gariel was a former member of the New York Metropolitan Orchestra. She is now retired and focusing on the business and production of children’s videobooks, known as Moon Secret Books. Her brother Olo creates the illustrations. The concept for the whimsical children’s stories started when they were children. Growing up in Europe, they experienced a wide range of art and music, which are evident in their work today.

The videobook, “Kevin the Ghost,” reveals the story of young Kevin the Ghost, who decides to visit planet Earth after hearing some criticisms regarding his pale complexion. He arrives at Kennedy airport in New York City to search for a solution to his problem.

In heaven, Kevin the Ghost was very happy and he was popular because of his skill in storytelling. He visits the Star Cafe every day and tells humorous stories that many loved to hear. One day, St. Peter came for a drink at the cafe and became friendly with Kevin. This caused a lot of jealousy, which ultimately resulted in those criticisms against him.

There are many more videobooks from Gemma and Olo. These include “My Personal Cupid,” “The Angel from Guadalupe,” “Bernie and Todd,” “Pal Peter, Rainbow Eater,” “Professor Brubeck’s Octopus,” “Little Vampire Ben,” “Princess Belinda,” “Chirp Chirp, Buzz Buzz, Bow Wow!” and “Strzyga.”

Gemma Gariel obtained her master's degree at the Academy of Music in Warsaw, Poland. After that, she completed her post-graduate degree as a solo violinist with honors in Geneva, Switzerland. As a young artist, she was based in Paris, performing chamber music in Paris and all over the world.

In the early 1980s, she moved to New York City, where she recorded her voice and compositions, accompanied by classical and jazz musicians. During that time, her perfect pitch and innate musicality proved essential to her tenure as violinist in the New York Metropolitan Opera. In 2007, she moved to Connecticut where she and Olo focus on their musical and artistic legacy, with their children’s videobooks.

Olo graduated with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland. After that, he continued his study in Lodz and became director of animation. He has worked in the movie industry since 1979 and has already created 50 animated films, several of which have garnered international awards.

Olo has lived in the US for the last 22 years and has created animation for popular companies like Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, HBO, AT&T, and more. His drawings have been internationally recognized, having appeared in The New York Times, People, Connoisseur, and various European publications. He and Gemma live in Connecticut where they continue to collaborate in the authorship of their unique and fun videobooks.
