May 29, 2019 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

This summer marks the third annual adult classical guitar workshop held at the Brevard Music Center under the direction of Maestro Adam Holzman, founder of the Classical Guitar Program at the Brevard Music Center Summer Institute and Festival. The workshop runs from June 3 – June 8, 2019.

For five days, participants, ages 30 and up, will engage in a comprehensive curriculum of private lessons, masterclasses and ensembles for classical guitar. The program features instruction in interpretation, technique, guitar ensemble, sound production as well as question and answer sessions, faculty recitals, culminating with a class recital.

Adam Holzman, an international performing and recording artist, is the founder of both the Classical Guitar Studio at The University of Texas at Austin and the Austin Classical Guitar Society. His students have won an array of international prizes.

One of Holzman’s former students, Bret Williams, a Masters graduate from the Mannes College of Music and host of Classical Guitar Insider podcast, offers his firsthand glimpse of Holzman’s teaching style.

“He’s direct. That is his trademark. Adam would stay focused the entire lesson and when he told stories, they always had a direct relationship with the matter in hand. Years later, I’ve realized this can be a rare trait in teachers.”

Holzman has been featured on the covers of both Classical Guitar Magazine and GuitArt Magazine. He has performed at the prestigious Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, distinguished New York venues such as Kaufman Hall at the 92nd St. Y, Merkin Hall, and Carnegie Recital Hall, as well as in music festivals and series from Miami to San Francisco, Boston to New Orleans. His extensive international performances have taken him throughout Europe, Canada, Mexico, Central and Latin America.

Twice he was selected to perform in the historic masterclasses of the legendary Andres Segovia.

Guest artists for 2019 are American guitarists, Andrew Zone from Columbus State University and Steve Kostelnik from Southwestern University.
