AKX (“A.K.X”), the face and lead vocalist of the Denver based hiphop group Righteous Revolution, is excited to announce the release of their highly anticipated fourth studio album “Unassimilated” on October 5th, 2019. It will be available to stream on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, & Youtube and all major streaming platforms including the group’s website.
This new album features the vocals of emcee AKX and a slew of producers to create a unique musical combination of hard hitting Boom bap style beats blanketed with a tapestry of conscious lyrical imagery. The entire album consisting of twelve tracks was recorded at Blackwater Audio in Denver, Colorado and engineered and mixed by Tyler Duffus. AKX is the main vocalist but he may trick the listener as he reverts back and forth from a technically tight hiphop rhyme flow to a chanting reggae style synonymous with Jamaican dancehall music. The multi-vocal style along with in depth subject matter creates an atmosphere that harkens back to the Golden era of hiphop when groups like Public Enemy and Poor Righteous Teachers made their mark. AKX delivers an intricate rhyme scheme and “wordplay” skill that is very potent even on today’s hiphop landscape.
Each track can be described as thought-provoking and lyrically rich. These elements are embodied in the first release off the album “Mic murderer”. The diversity of AKX is further seen in the Caribbean themed joint, “The System” and the hard hitting single “Soundboy Slaughter”. The combination of AKXs’ rapid flow, conscious subject matter, head-nodding production and a slice of island flavor is the recipe for the over all Righteous Revolution sound and seems to be further perfected on this album. Other artists featured on UNASSIMILATED are Native Son on the hard hitting track “Original Man” and the down south emcee Phatigue on a track dealing with Gun Violence in minority communities, “Murderation”. There is also a bonus track featuring the conscious Mid west emcee Shadow God and an offering featuring the lovely songstress Kedence and Righteous Revolution emcee Out of Poverty called “Visions”.
AKX migrated to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago in the early 90’s. He worked to put himself through college earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration Management. He was then able to overcome immigration difficulties and challenges in becoming a US citizen through great perseverance. After starting his own Caribbean food catering business, AKX was able to follow his musical dreams by establishing “Righteous Revolution, LLC” and started recording Righteous Revolution music in 2004. After releasing 4 studio albums in 11 years including “Stolen Legacy” two years ago, AKX and the revolution crew are extremely excited to release more of their brand of Culture music to the public in the form of this new album.
Heavily influenced by groups like Public Enemy, Brand Nubian and Dead Prez and artists like KRS-One, Talib Kweli and Common, AKX was able to find his own conscious voice and develop himself as a writer and performer who feels all of his influences and talents will be recognized in this new album. The upcoming album “Unassimilated” is set to launch with digital and physical distribution on Saturday, October 5th, 2019. This is also the date of the official album release party with a sixty-minute live performance set at the Boulder Music Festival.
