Sarasota Accounts Receivable Management Company Awards Scholarship to Pensacola College Students

Sarasota, Fla. – Local accounts receivable management company, Gulf Coast Collection Bureau, Inc. has recently awarded scholarships to Pensacola State College students. Gulf Coast Collection Bureau is proud to be able to help students from a wide variety of backgrounds and fields of study pursue their dream.

The PSC Scholarship is officially titled the Oren R. Powell and LaVonne C. Agerton Associated Credit Bureaus of Florida Scholarship. Each winner receives a $500 scholarship towards college-related expenses such as tuition or books. Applicants are required to submit a 500-word essay about financial literacy and the wise use of credit.

The collection bureau in Sarasota has implemented a few requirements for the applicants of this scholarship. First, students who apply for this scholarship must be in good academic standing and maintain a 2.0 GPA over the course of their education there. Second, they must be enrolled at PSC as either a full time or part-time student.

“We believe that college students should be given as much help as possible in pursuing their degree and we are happy to have a part in it,” states Gulf Coast Collection’s own Jeff Powell. “I’ve worked with many college students and have seen the stress the financial burdens of higher education places on them.”

David J., a student at Pensacola State, wrote this in a thank you letter after receiving the scholarship: “Your contributions make it possible for the next generation to continue work and to one day offer those coming after them the same benefits you've provided. The Scottish philosopher Thomas Carlyle is quoted as saying, "A great man shows his greatness by the way he treats little men." If this is true, you are showing your greatness every semester that this scholarship is handed out and I am grateful to be one of the little men aided by you.”
