ACH Custom Homes faced this challenge when their client chose to bring a little mountain flair down to the east coast. The client wanted a woodsy residential enclave inside and out.
Set against a 2-acre equestrian bend this Aspen-style residence is a mixture of rustic charm captured in a Lowcountry setting. The building design team was able to produce an elegant yet comfortable collection of spaces to live within. Capitalizing on significant amounts and types of outdoor living areas allowed the home to integrate the flow of interior spaces to the outdoors.
The residence is clad in western red cedar shingles and rough-hewn timber while the interior space design flows effortlessly with reclaimed wide plank barn wood floors, hand-hewn columns, and beams. The large, landscaped lanai envelopes the ample-sized Baja pool with chip-edged travertine pavers and rough-sawn cypress columns and beams.
Massive western stone stanchions form an entrance gateway to “Rolling Hill” berms that line the pervious driveway to the oversized pine timber and alder wood door entryway. Just to the right of the entry is an oversized garage that provides ample space for the owner’s dedication to re-build race cars.
The owners relied on a strong team dynamic between the architect and the builder to pull off this wonderful collaboration. Even the smallest details convey the essence of mountain living. It is proof that building a home in the right region is not as important as the team that puts it all together.
