DireWolf Holistic, based in Aurora, Colorado, has announced that they have recently published an article that focuses on whether it is safe to use CBD oil for dogs, including cats and other pets. The company was actually formed because of the realization that products with cannabidiol (CBD) may help with their health problems. Daniel Horan, one of the co-founders of the company had experienced positive results when he used CBD tincture for his dog Ziggy. With the realization that Ziggy is alive and well because of CBD, they decided to help establish the company with the hope of helping others with similar problems.
Daniel Horan’s 4-year-old dog began having seizures when he was 2 years old. Several vets performed bloodwork on Ziggy but the results were negative, showing that he was fine. The vets then warned Dan that they will need to put the dog on pharmaceutical drugs like Valium or phenobarbitol if the seizures continued.
But Dan did not want to use such drugs on his dog because of the possible side effects, such as liver failure or thyroid failure. He decided to use coconut oil infused with some local CBD. After experimenting with dosage amounts and formulas, Ziggy went-seizure-free for one entire year. Since then, they increased the dosage and monitored the dog’s progress. The discovery of how beneficial CBD was for his puppy lead him and his partner to go on to create DireWolf Holistic.
Ziggy has been seizure-free ever since but they continue to monitor his progress. They were actually able to save hundreds of dollars on blood tests and medicine every month because of CBD.
Daniel Horan says, “There are some incredible benefits to giving CBD to your pets, but we also need to address a few non-life threatening side effects as well. An important question people often ask is whether CBD oil is safe for dogs and cats and we address that in the article. First of all, CBD is naturally occurring in the bodies of both humans and animals and this means that there cannabinoid receptors in the body. When CBD products are ingested, the CBD reacts with those receptors, making the person or animal feel at ease and more relaxed. As it turns out that CBD oil can change an ailing pet’s quality of life altogether.”
The webpage article points out that not all CBD products are the same and people also need to be aware there can be some side effects - although people can be sure that CBD does not cause humans or animals to get high because there are no psychoactive ingredients. Tetrahydrocannabinoil (THC) is the component of marijuana that is psychoactive and the CBD products do not have THC.
There are three possible side effects of using CBD for dogs and other animals like cats. These are dry mouth, low blood pressure, and drowsiness. CBD can cause a reduction in the production of saliva that the dog naturally produces. This is not really of great concern but it is advisable to ensure that the dog’s water bowl is always filled up.
Meanwhile, the low blood pressure has only been observed with large daily doses and is just temporary and not life-threatening. Drowsiness is also nothing to worry about and is a product of CBD’s relaxing effect. Thus, they would advise pet owners to provide their pet with half the recommended dosage of oral tincture at first and then gradually increase the dosage, just like any other supplement.
The people at DireWolf Holistic want to advise pet owners that organic CBD oil for dogs would be the best choice. And while it is important to look for those that are affordable, people should keep in mind that the cheapest are not always the best. And finally, CBD oil tinctures are usually the most flexible way to give CBD oil to dogs or other pets like cats.
Meanwhile, DireWolf Holistic has been providing CBD/hemp products and services since 2018. They do all of the growing and experimentation in-house and provide products that excel in quality and flavor. They would also like to point out that new site members will get 15 percent off their first just by subscribing to the site.
Those who would like to know more about the CBD products for dogs can visit their website or contact them on the phone or through email. They may also want to look at DireWolf Holistic's Instagram.
"The one thing we need to stress," Dan continues, "is that these are by no means health claims or cure-alls for your pet's diseases or anything of that nature. All I know is that this is what worked for my Ziggy and he's. His quality-of-life has tremendously improved because of it. It was the only thing that worked without trying pharmaceutical drugs. It's just the facts. I'd still consult a vet about it with your pet."
