Pearl Distributors clears up a long standing myth by releasing detailed information on how pearls are formed and where it really started. Many people love pearls but still believe some of the myths on how pearls are formed. This particular myth has been passed on through generations without scientific basis.
Many believe that pearls can be cultured by inserting a grain of sand into an oyster. Pearl Distributors is now giving complete details that contradict this myth. Miriam Reed of Pearl Distributors wanted to share an important clarification that the aforementioned information was all a myth and that pearls are not really formed from a grain of sand.
In the complete information that Pearl Distributors has released, pearls are cultured by inserting a tiny piece of tissue from another mollusk. Sometimes a tiny piece of the shell of another mollusk is inserted alongside the tissue sample. This is how pearls are really cultured by experts. There is no grain of sand involved!
Even natural pearls that have formed by accident don’t come from the mythical grain of sand but from a disturbance or break in the mantle layer of the shell that dislodges a few cells from the mantle tissue of the mollusk. These cells then multiply and form a pearl sac. The pearl grows inside this sac, as the mantle tissue continues to secrete pearl forming nacre in this enclosed area. Any foreign object that has been introduced by the disturbance will be coated by the nacre, and the layers of nacre will form around it. But sand is incapable of penetrating the oyster shell. Sometimes a parasite may do so.
Miriam Reed of Pearl Distributors, which is known for being a leading online retailer of quality pearl jewelry noted: “For many years, people have believed myths about pearls and how they are grown. I have heard them all but despite published information, this one just will not go away.” Pearl Distributors wants to correct this myth and help more people be informed of the truth behind culturing pearls.
Through the helpful information that Pearl Distributors has released, the long standing myth amongst the pearl jewelry loving public can now be cleared up. This will help in correcting this traditional belief and understand how pearls are really made.
Pearl Distributors is a well known online retailer offering a wide range of pearl jewelry and accessories, including Akoya pearls and Tahitian pearls.
