The College Solution Center, a new financial aid consulting firm based in New Jersey, believes that millions of middle class families are getting ripped off because they are needlessly overpaying for college.
“Most six figure-earning families mistakenly think ‘Financial Aid isn’t for folks like us,” according to Andrew Lockwood, J.D., best-selling author, internationally renowned college consultant and President of The College Solution Center. “They couldn’t be further from the truth. “The travesty is that the financial aid rules are extremely anti-middle class. In many cases, responsible families who worked hard and lived below their means are actually penalized for doing the right thing!” Lockwood said. “Not knowing the rules, or making one of those innocuous little mistakes, can have huge repercussions: it could mean the difference between being able to send your child to the dream school that she deserves to attend, versus breaking her heart by admitting you can’t afford it!” Lockwood said.
