Local Union City Awards Store Comments on Bay Area Closing Due to COVID-19

Union City, Ca.- Alpine Awards, a Union City awards store, is among the thousands of businesses that have been affected by California’s Bay Area lockdown in response to the rapidly spreading Coronavirus, or COVID-19. Like those businesses, Alpine Awards is facing a predictably challenging second quarter.

San Francisco Mayor, London Breed, was among the first leaders in California to impose the lockdown. This lockdown was in response to the over 1,400 positive cases of COVID-19 in a matter of weeks. Mayor Breed was concerned for her community’s health and thought it best to require the lockdown. Residents of San Francisco are restricted from leaving the house save for essential work, grocery shopping, biking, getting gas, some limited shopping and ordering takeout.

“I’m really proud of this city,” Mayor Breed states. “But this is week one. And I’m sure that in the beginning, it might be a lot easier. And as time goes on, it’s going to get more challenging for people.”

Promotional items stores in Union City such as Alpine Awards are among those businesses deemed “nonessential” during the lockdown. This means that Alpine Awards will not be able to serve their community and clients during the lockdown. Alpine Awards and other stores in the Bay Area are concerned about how long they will have to endure the loss of business.
