Ruth's passion for designing mermaid tails began like so many other success stories — out of the need to make a dream come true for her child. When her 4-year-old daughter decided she wanted to be a mermaid, Ruth set out to make that happen by making a real mermaid tail. When her daughter's friends saw the tail, they all wanted one, too, so Ruth made a dozen more. Before long, she began receiving phone calls and emails from other people asking if she was "The Mermaid Lady."
