The insider guide 101 Things To Do Magazine recommends visiting the Harbour Town Lighthouse, one of many things to do in the famed South Carolina town.

The free traveler’s magazine has listed numerous activities to visit and try in Hilton Head on its website and publication used by locals and guests. Making it on the list is a visit to the Harbour Town Lighthouse located in the Sea Pines vacation rental neighborhood.

The Hilton Head Lighthouse is within a short distance from Greenwood Drive. This 90-foot red and white tower on the harbor’s edge was finished in 1970. Since then, it has been accessible to the general public.

The lighthouse has 114 stairs leading up to the top. It showcases the expansive view of Hilton Head Island and its surrounding sea, marsh, fairway, and port. The lighthouse is open daily until sundown.

Besides the fantastic views from the top, visitors can also explore the history of the Hilton Head at the Harbour Town Lighthouse Museum. A self-guided tour of the museum may be taken up the steps within the lighthouse. The Harbour Town Lighthouse Museum has a few artifacts, including Civil War-era photos.

The Hilton Head Visitor’s Magazine also listed a visit to the Harbour Town Lighthouse Gift Shop. The gift store has the most outstanding handmade crystal souvenirs on Hilton Head Island. They also have apparel, books, artwork, globes, and various other souvenir items.

With its popularity, the Harbour Town Lighthouse is attracting many Hilton Head visitors. However, it isn’t the only lighthouse in Hilton Head. Another one found in the area is the Hilton Head Island Rear Range Lighthouse, also called the Leamington Lighthouse. Though less famous, it has a unique role in Hilton Head Island’s history since it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and included in the Historic Light Stations Inventory.

The 101 Things To Do Magazine has provided informative and interesting information on various activities in Hilton Head. They provide helpful, engaging, and motivating articles on their website, https://101thingshiltonhead.com/.
