Five Star Marriage Counseling, based in Las Vegas, NV, is helping couples who have taken the plunge into a shotgun wedding. The city is known around the world for its drive-through weddings, and it is also a known fact that very few of these weddings actually stand the test of time. Five Star Marriage Counseling aims to change that.
"People are known to come to Vegas, get drunk and get married," says a spokesperson for Five Star Marriage Counseling. "The often wake up the next morning regretting what they have done. However, the old saying of 'in vino veritas' (there is truth in wine) holds true. If people proclaim their eternal love for each other when slightly intoxicated, some true love must be there as well. We want to help them find this, rather than becoming the next statistic."
People come from all over the world to get married in Vegas. Many of these weddings are properly planned and completed by people who have been in solid, committed relationships for quite some time. However, there continue to be many who get married on the spur of the moment, because it seems like a fun thing to do and a good idea while dazzled by the glitz and glamor of 'Sin City'.
On Five Star Marriage's Twitter page at https://twitter.com/5marriagecoun, people have been asked to use the hashtag #ShotGunWeddingFail to indicate that they got married on a whim in Vegas and now find themselves looking for a divorce. The marriage counselor wants to contact these people in order to find out whether there is something to be saved.
"I got married to my best friend on a stag and hen-weekend in Vegas," says Charlie P. "It felt like such a good idea at the time. Now, however, I am stuck in a marriage that I don't know I want to be in, and I am at risk of losing my best friend because we made such a mistake. I am so glad for all the help Five Star is giving us. Even if we won't be able to save this marriage, we may be able to stay friends."
