Five Star Paving, a business in Las Vegas, NV, has taken on a huge project to make the sidewalks and pavements of Las Vegas safer for the general public. The services they provide are common place in areas with frequent frost, where pavements often crack and break. This is not the case in Las Vegas, but nor does that mean that cracks do not occur. "When people think of Vegas, they automatically think of The Strip," says a sales representative for Five Star Paving. "Everything looks beautiful there and every inch of surface is checked and re-checked by the hotel and casino owners and the various city officials. However, the minute you turn off The Strip, it is a different story. With people becoming more adventurous and exploring more of Vegas, this is posing a real danger. We are happy to have been awarded a contract to fix broken sidewalks and pavements."

While this is certainly the reason why they have been awarded the contract for fixing Vegas' walkways, some more cynical people believe there is another reason why city officials are suddenly keen to improve the city.
"When people trip over the pavement, they often have a reason to sue the local government," says one Las Vegas resident. "Not only that, but it will bring down the overall image of Vegas, which earns most its money through tourism. As a resident, I'm glad that things are getting fixed, but I believe that the government is less altruistic than they are making out."
Whatever the reasons, Five Star Paving is ready to take on the job and they have recently started work on a number of streets in poor condition.
