Tampa, FL - May 11, 2023 - PRESSADVANTAGE -

Tampa, FL – Clean Recovery Centers takes pride in educating Floridians on addiction topics. In their latest post, they discuss the stages of alcoholism. Also known as alcohol use disorder (AUD), alcoholism affects numerous people every year. AUD is not one size fits all, and there are different stages that take effect at different times. One person may be in an early stage while someone else is in a later stage.

“The first step is to assess each person that comes in the door,” says a Clean Recovery Centers representative. “This helps us to figure out the best course of treatment and individualize their plan to be most effective. Recovery is not one size fits all, and being able to customize treatment is key.”

The first stage of AUD is known as pre-alcoholic. In this stage, tolerance and preference have yet to be established. This leads to experimenting and often binge drinking. The second stage is early-stage alcoholism. The key in this stage is that alcohol becomes a hobby, pastime, or way to destress. The third stage is middle-stage alcoholism. This is where drinking has become a priority and stopping can result in withdrawal symptoms.

The final stage of alcoholism is the end-stage. At this point, damage is happening throughout the body and drinking has become out of control. Cancer risk increases and liver damage is imminent. Other side effects include acute pancreatitis, cardiomyopathy, and digestive problems.

“If we can get more people into treatment before the end-stage, we can help reverse some of the harmful side effects of alcohol use disorder. Some health problems can become so severe that the body cannot heal,” warns the representative.

The liver is a resilient organ, but certain damage can be irreversible. Early damage, such as fibrosis, can heal over time but can take years before normal function returns. Once the liver enters cirrhosis, there is no cure and the liver is permanently damaged. Healthcare professionals can work to manage the symptoms but a transplant will be necessary in order for normal function to return.

Over 3.2 million Floridians reported binge or heavy drinking over the last year. Clean Recovery Centers’ goal is to help those who are managing alcohol use disorder and create healthy coping skills and habits to get life back on track. With the motto of “get clean, live clean, stay clean,” the facility has helped hundreds achieve this goal across the Suncoast of Florida. They have locations in New Port Richey, Sarasota, Largo, and Tampa.

Clean Recovery Centers uses a unique three-phase approach to address alcohol use disorder. It offers different levels of treatment that have housing components. They are the only facility in the area that uses rapid-resolution therapy along with other types of therapy and wellness programs. Mental health programming is also available to those who receive a diagnosis while in treatment. Those who want to know more about the program can call (888) 330-2532 or visit their website.
