William F Bennett, M.D., of Bennett Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Sarasota, FL, is proud to announce that his his 2003 research paper, “Arthroscopic Repair of Massive and Contracted Rotator Cuff Tears: A Prospective Cohort with 2 to 4 Year Follow-Up”, evaluated along with other research papers, from 2003 to 2014, on the topic by “Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery, Vol 31, No 12, December 2015,” was found to be one of the two best on the subject based on study design, the level of evidence and quality.
Dr. Bennett’s peer-reviewed article reported upon Dr. Bennett's own patients’ surgical outcomes for arthroscopic repair of massive rotator cuff tears at 2 - 4 years after surgery. Dr. Bennett is gratified and honored by the recognition. Having been a member of the editorial board for that very same journal for five years, he is well aware of the rigorous scrutiny and review that the articles published in the journal face.
In an article in the same issue of “Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery,” on a related subject, "Utilization and Costs of Postoperative Physical Therapy After Rotator Cuff Repair: A Comparison of Privately Insured and Medicare Patients," it was determined that Dr. Bennett’s patients outcomes for rotator cuff repairs fare measurably better than the norm. The article found that over 80% of privately insured and over 40% of Medicare patients are still undergoing physical therapy after six months, whereas almost none of Dr. Bennet’s are.
