Naples, Florida:  Merrill Lund, a licensed massage therapist and businessman, owner of Career Extenders, a manual therapy tool company, has been helping his massage therapy clients and fellow therapists to achieve extraordinary pain relief results for over 30-years, with what appears to be an ingeniously novel approach.  He even won an award from the prestigious Edison Inventor's Association for his manual therapy tools back in 2009.

Merrill Lund, LMT, owner of Career Extenders Therapy Tools, building the "Best Friend" tool in his workshop.

Developed out of the necessity to relieve the pain he was experiencing in his thumbs, hands, and body from doing massages all day long, every single day for many years, Lund says, “I developed these therapy tools to assist the professional therapist by reducing the pain and stress of treating their clients, while simultaneously providing a superior treatment. The end result is a happier and healthier client and therapist.”

Industry experts are also commenting about Lund’s inventions too.  In a news story recently published at Digital Journal, titled, "Massage Therapy Tools For Therapists Reviewed By Industry Expert," Paul St. John, the father of Neuromuscular Therapy, highly endorsed Lund’s therapy tools. St. John also made an 8-minute testimonial and educational video, which is now posted on the company's website. In the video, which has thousands of views, St. John explains precisely how he uses Lund's therapy tools to achieve the best results.

Another customer of Career Extenders, D. Shaefer, LMT, had this to say, “I've got several of the tools that you invented.  They are awesome.  I think my favorite is the wedge tool (the ‘My Precious’ tool).  It has really been a big help to me since I bought it. And the thumb protectors also...  They are great for these old worn out thumbs!  Thank you for making these tools available to us."  In addition to Shaefer’s testimonial, there are many other therapists who’ve commented about how the tools have helped them on the company’s website.

Interestingly, Lund designed his therapy tools to help therapists provide superior relief to areas of the body on their clients that are not easily accessed by either the therapist’s fingertips or other massage therapy tools.  For example, the "L-Bar Tool," which is actually six tools in one, has three specialized tips on it that can fit into never before treatable areas, such as the inner edges of the spinous processes of each vertebra.

Lund explains, "As a result, therapists can now reach the little ligaments, tendons, fascia, periosteum, and tiny rotator muscles of the spine to relive trigger points. And, the round part of the tool fits perfectly in the lamina groove, which makes this tool a dream to use.” You can watch a video demonstration on how to use the L-Bar Tool on the company’s website.

Sheila Panegasser, LMT, in Florida, who has been practicing therapeutic and neuromuscular therapy massage for over 13-years, had this to say about Lund’s tools, “For the muscle work that I do, which involves deep effleurage, deep muscle stripping, and friction, these tools really come in handy.  They take a lot of pressure off my relatively small hands and small joints.  I especially really like the ‘Best Friend’ tool for doing deep effleurage on my larger male client’s hamstrings, glutes, and low back.”

Lund’s goal was to help therapists to extend their careers.  He says, “My intent in creating these tools was to save you (therapists) energy and reduce or eliminate the impact on your fingers, hands and joints.” To this end, there are many educational videos on the company's website teaching therapists how to use Career Extenders' therapy tools to, quite literally, extend their careers.  From what many therapists have been saying from across the industry in countries around the world, it appears that he is achieving that goal.
