Tamarack Resort, Idaho's premier mountain biking destination, is excited to announce the opening of its downhill mountain biking season on May 31, 2024, weather permitting. With an impressive 56.7 miles of dedicated mountain bike trails, Tamarack offers an unparalleled riding experience for all ages and skill levels. The resort has been working tirelessly to enhance its trail network and provide riders with an unforgettable experience in the heart of Idaho's stunning landscape.
The 2024 season brings exciting additions to Tamarack's already impressive trail system. Two new downhill trails have been carefully crafted to cater to adventurous riders seeking a thrilling challenge. Shark Bait, a 0.94-mile black diamond flow trail, features technical rock gardens, large berms, drops, and the biggest jumps on the mountain. This progressive trail offers a little bit of everything, allowing riders to showcase their skills and push their limits. For those who crave a more raw and steep experience, Oblivion, a 0.56-mile black diamond technical trail, awaits. This trail winds through a dark, steep gully, littered with roots, rocks, drops, and loose corners, providing a true test of skill and bravery.
In addition to the new trails, Tamarack has also extended two existing trails to offer even more riding opportunities. Hot Shot, a black diamond technical trail, now features a new final section connecting to hub 9. This extension adds an extra 1.05 miles of challenging terrain, including an optional double black line for the most daring riders. Los Azulejos, a green flow trail, has been extended by 1.01 miles to connect with Paper Boy, providing a longer and more enjoyable experience for beginners and intermediate riders.
"The resort is thrilled to offer guests an even more diverse and exciting mountain biking experience this season," said JC Paul, Director of Mountain Operations at Tamarack Resort. "The Tamarack Resort team has worked hard to design and build these new trails and extensions, ensuring that riders of all skill levels will find something to challenge and delight them at Tamarack. The resort is committed to maintaining the position as Idaho's premier mountain biking destination and providing guests with an unforgettable experience in the beautiful Payette River Mountains."
Tamarack's extensive cross-country trail network, featuring 21 miles of trails, will also be open for riders to enjoy free of charge. These trails wind through the resort's stunning landscape, offering breathtaking views and a chance to immerse guests in nature. Visitors can be either a seasoned cross-country rider or just looking for a leisurely ride, Tamarack's cross-country trails have something for everyone.
The Tamarack Express lift will run daily from 9 AM to 4 PM, providing easy access to the resort's downhill trails. Please note that there will be some closures on June 7-9 and June 21-23 for events. Riders are encouraged to check the resort's website for the most up-to-date information on lift operations and trail conditions.
For those seeking an adrenaline rush, the expert-designed jump park at the base of the mountain is a must-visit. This free attraction offers a range of features for riders to test their skills and catch some air, whether they're just learning to fly or seeking big hang time. Helmets are required for all riders using the jump park.
Tamarack Outfitters, located on-site, offers premier downhill and cross-country bike rentals for those who need gear. Their knowledgeable staff can assist riders in finding the perfect bike to suit their needs and skill level. Helmets and closed-toe shoes are required for all riders, and full suspension bikes with disc brakes are highly recommended for the downhill trails.
"Tamarack Resort is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all guests," said Mitch Vaughan, Marketing Director at Tamarack Resort. "We encourage all riders to familiarize themselves with our safety policies and to ride within their skill level. Friendly and experienced staff are always available to answer questions and provide guidance to ensure that everyone has a fantastic time on trails."
