Greensboro, NC—Medical Justice, which offers protection plans and online reputation management for doctors, has launched a new website. The website is fully redesigned and includes helpful content such as real-world reputation management case studies and blogs from the founder, as well as descriptions of problems the organization helps to solve and its comprehensive services for medical providers.
“We are thrilled to offer a user-friendly online resource for physicians seeking to safeguard their online reputations as well as protect themselves from common medico-legal threats,” said Jeffrey Segal, MD, JD, the founder of Medical Justice. “In addition to our weekly blogs and newsletters, the site offers clear explanations of our services and helps doctors understand the importance of using certain protocols to protect their practices and careers.”
Dr. Segal is a board-certified neurosurgeon, attorney, and CEO of Medical Justice. While practicing neurosurgery, Dr. Segal experienced some of the issues that he now helps doctors to prevent and handle. Combined with his experience as an attorney, his background gives him a nuanced understanding of the legal issues that doctors often face.
Along with the organization’s other medico-legal experts, Dr. Segal works to help their members proactively protect their practices and establish their online reputation through both protection plan memberships and an online review collection and promotion program called eMerit. Doctors turn to Medical Justice when it comes to handling patients demanding refunds, legal threats, and other complex situations that fall in a gray area outside of what is covered by medical malpractice insurance.
In the process of founding and growing Medical Justice over the past 25 years, Dr. Segal has established himself as an expert in medico-legal issues, with his weekly blog and newsletter gaining over 30,000 subscribers. In addition to its new resources, the website continues to house Dr. Segal’s blog, which includes his unique commentary and analysis on news stories related to medical and legal issues.
“There is much to discuss when it comes to the medico-legal space, so we publish the blog both to inform our network of doctors and medical providers, and to foster a discussion,” said Dr. Segal. “With the new design, we aim to make it even simpler to navigate the blog and find resources related to topics of interest.”
The new website launch in 2024 marks Medical Justice’s 25-year anniversary, as the organization filed its first patents in 1999, one in February and one in October. By 2003, the U.S. Patent Office had issued the patents covering the company’s proprietary system for assisting and protecting doctors from common threats. Over the years, they have evolved to meet the growing need for doctors to have a robust online reputation in the form of patient reviews and search engine optimization (SEO).
“In the beginning, Medical Justice focused on prevention of frivolous lawsuits,” explained Robin Mahaffey, Chief Operations Officer at Medical Justice. “The tools and resources provided were designed to deter escalation. Over time, as the internet became more important in the healthcare space, it became integrated into our service offerings, ultimately leading to the creation of eMerit. Twenty-five years in, we’re thrilled to have developed this website to educate medical providers about why our services are an important protection that goes beyond the scope of malpractice insurance.”
The primary navigation of the site contains pages about the two main services of Medical Justice, Protection Plans and Online Reputation Management with their program eMerit. It also has been updated with several resources focused on “Problems We Solve,” or the types of issues that Medical Justice’s services help doctors to prevent or handle, including defamation in online reviews, notice of intent to sue, and unethical expert witnesses. The blog page has also been organized with Medical Justice’s and Dr. Segal’s clients in mind, providing navigation options by topic or by chronological posting date.
Those who are interested in learning more about Medical Justice’s services are invited to explore the new website or call their office to join.
Medical Justice membership provides doctors with comprehensive support for challenges such as preventing frivolous lawsuits, addressing unwarranted refund demands, managing sham peer reviews, and safeguarding their online reputation.
