The site is part of the network run by www.foodforsale.com. It is a New Jersey based B2B food sales company that has been in business since 2000. The owner states that he is 77 years young and proves seniors can be relevant in the digital world.

Epstein says that the object is to create a central, worldwide marketplace for selling and buying one item, salmon. It is trustworthy because it is not owned by a seller or buyer, sort of like the stock exchange.
