Symmes Township, Ohio - July 06, 2026 -
The American Cornhole Organization (ACO) has announced significant format changes for the upcoming ACO World Championships of Cornhole Season 21, scheduled for July 20-25, 2026, at the Owensboro Convention Center in Kentucky. The announcement includes updates to the ACO State Slyder Cup format and expanded tournament divisions designed to enhance competitive play across all skill levels.
The six-day championship event marks the third time Owensboro has been selected to host the premier annual tournament, reinforcing the city's growing reputation as a destination for major sporting events. The 2026 championships will feature professional, amateur, and adaptive divisions, along with vendor exhibitions, player meet-and-greets, and family-friendly activities throughout the week.
"The format changes we're implementing for ACO Worlds 21 represent our commitment to evolving the sport while maintaining the competitive integrity that players expect," said Frank Geers, the Cornhole Dude, ACO Founder. "Owensboro has proven to be an exceptional host city, and these updates will create an even more dynamic championship experience for both competitors and spectators."
The American Cornhole Organization, ACO continues to expand its reach through multiple platforms, including the ACO International Cornhole Membership program, which provides players with exclusive access to tournaments, world rankings, and a global community of cornhole enthusiasts. Members at various levels receive benefits ranging from discounted entry fees at ACO Majors to eligibility for payouts, prizes, and trophies.
"The evolution of our State Slyder Cup format demonstrates how we're listening to player feedback and adapting to meet the needs of our growing community," added Geers. "These changes will create more opportunities for players at all levels to compete meaningfully while maintaining the excitement that makes cornhole such an engaging sport."
A key component of the organization's growth strategy involves digital expansion through ACO Cornhole Live 24/7, the streaming platform that broadcasts tournament coverage and educational content to audiences worldwide. The platform has become instrumental in bringing professional cornhole competitions to fans who cannot attend events in person, while also serving as a resource for players looking to improve their skills.
The ACO World Championships attracts competitors from across the globe, competing for titles in multiple divisions. The tournament structure includes qualifying rounds, bracket play, and championship matches across various skill categories, ensuring competitive opportunities for players ranging from beginners to seasoned professionals.
The selection of Owensboro for the 2026 championships continues a partnership that has successfully hosted previous ACO events. The Owensboro Convention Center provides ample space for multiple courts, vendor areas, and spectator seating, creating an ideal environment for the multi-day tournament.
Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Camp Dennison, Ohio, the American Cornhole Organization, ACO serves as the official governing body for the sport of cornhole worldwide. The organization maintains official rules, world standings, and sanctions tournaments at local, regional, and international levels. Through its comprehensive tournament structure, membership programs, and digital platforms, the ACO continues to promote the growth and development of cornhole as both a recreational activity and competitive sport.
