BloodThinnerHelp.com reports on Xarelto, a very popular blood thinner medication. When it was initially released it was unlike blood thinners before it, in that it allowed greater flexibility to the patient. Today, however, after 5 years on the market, the drug is immersed in controversy, with over 3,400 lawsuits filed by users who claimed the drug caused excessive and uncontrollable internal and external bleeding. The thousands of lawsuits that have been filed are all against the same defendants, Bayer Healthcare, and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, the manufacturers of the drug, and allege very similar experiences that focus on uncontrollable bleeding precipitated from its use and fatal in many cases.
One lawsuit, in particular, filed by a couple in Texas in the Eastern District of New York, whose case (filed under case number 1:14-cv-04524) is now part of the consolidated multidistrict litigation (MDL) number 2592 in Louisiana, that was approved by the U.S. Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation (JPMDL) focuses on the failure of the manufacturers of Xarelto, to sufficiently warn patients of the potential risks associated with taking the drug.
The female complainant, in this case, was prescribed Xarelto by her doctor because she was at an increased risk of and susceptible to having a stroke because of her atrial fibrillation. She claims that only after 5 months of taking the drug for her heart condition she experienced a very quick onset of internal bleeding. She also states that because of the bleeding it has left her with some serious long-term health issues as well.
It should also be noted the number of new complaints and court filings has increased while those plaintiffs involved in the 3,400 already filed cases await their day in court to pursue justice for themselves and those who have died from excessive bleeding allegedly because of using Xarelto.
The Osborne firm is offering free consultations to anyone who suffered injury or hospitalization after a bleed while on Xarelto. Call (866) 425-8902 for more information about this release or the Xarelto litigation.
