A new Southeast London delivery company now offers van sharing to select companies throughout their delivery area in London, Kent, and Sussex.
With congestion in London getting worse by the month, van sharing just makes sense. That's why The Delivery Company founder Michael Crane came up with the concept. It's not very economical for three different businesses to send out separate vans when one van can make the deliveries to the customers of all three businesses.
Not only does it save the client companies of The Delivery Company from having to buy or rent their own vans. They also won't have to hire their own drivers. In addition, van sharing cuts down on fuel cost as well as the infamous congestion charge in Central London.
Crane started his new London van sharing company as a solution to an expensive challenge he faced with Crane Business Solutions, his business supplies and services company, headquartered in South East London.
Tired of paying for vans that circled the company's vast distribution area half empty most days, especially after having dropped off their deliveries, he looked into van sharing. London turned out to be the perfect location for van sharing, so he decided to rent out the extra capacity in his vans to companies in his distribution area who also needed to deliver their wares. It would be much more economical for all involved and better for the environment as well.
After rebranding his vans, Crane now operates them with the The Delivery Company logo. Of course, the quality of service remains as high as ever. In fact, one of the most popular perks of Crane Business Solutions and The Delivery Company is that they deliver their goods exactly where they are needed.
The drivers don't just dump the goods at the front desk, but take the break supplies to the break room, the boxed paper to the copying machine or the supplies cupboard, and so on. And since they provide the same service for their client companies, their clients' customers get to enjoy the extra service as well.
In addition, the delivery vans are continuously tracked as they move along their routes. These extras provide a clear advantage over more generic delivery options. Currently, The Deliver Company is offering its London van sharing service particularly to small and medium sized companies in Southeast London and the "Home Counties," i.e., the areas of Kent and Sussex closest to London.
"Here's how it works," Crane said. "Our drivers pick up their daily deliveries from our home warehouse and continue to pick up more deliveries from our client companies throughout the day. Then they drop off the packages at their respective customers' locations."
"Most of the deliveries are made on the same day," Crane adds. "And our London van sharing service, The Delivery Company, allows our client companies to provide a superior customer experience to their own customers for a lower price."
