Award-winning law enforcer, Sheriff Christopher Malphrus, is pushing for the creation of detailed divisions under the Jasper County Sheriff Office (JSCO). It is one of the commitments of Malphrus as he bids for reelection in the upcoming Jasper County Sheriff Election.
The trusted sheriff is eyeing to build JCSO divisions that would focus on various issues in Jasper County. One division should focus on gang and violent crimes. Noting the growing number of youth involved in gang activity, Sheriff Malphrus says attacking gang progression in Jasper County is a priority. There should be at least one dedicated investigator to work daily in identifying gang activity and members within Jasper County, he adds.
The champion sheriff says that there should also be at least one investigator dedicated to solving violent crimes and bringing closure to victims. Sheriff Malphrus adds that members of this unit should have specialized training to ensure that citizens of Jasper are getting the absolute best prevention and investigations possible.
With years of working experience with the Drug Enforcement Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation, Sheriff Malphrus is also pushing for the creation of a joint task force with these agencies. The task force would give JCSO access to many federal resources, at little to no cost for the citizens of Jasper County. It would also open the doors to charge criminals on a federal level, thus helping clean the criminal element out of Jasper County. Sheriff Malphrus, on the other hand, ensures that this task force is combined with all local agencies in the area.
Another division pushed by the Candidate for Sheriff in Jasper County, SC is a division for cold case investigators. This unit would have two investigators who will focus on older cases of violent crimes/homicides. With additional time to serve and dedication, Sheriff Malphrus hopes to bring justice and closure to families of victims as he has diligently done on current cases through his tenure as sheriff since January 2017.
As the number of crimes against children continues to grow, Sheriff Malphrus also aims to have one division whose primary focus would be internet-related crimes and crimes against children. “These types of investigations require a lot of time to investigate, and it would benefit my staff and citizens in Jasper to have someone dedicated to working solely on these incidents,” he stressed.
Sheriff Malphrus offers 17 years of experience in law enforcement, with a particular focus on anti-drug programs. In his years in service, he has received numerous awards for his exceptional campaigns and initiatives for the Jasper County community.
