Borolux Bakeware has announced the launch of a new product line, which is their borosilicate glass bakeware. This new product line has been designed and is manufactured completely in the USA. The company offers borosilicate glassware that is designed to be safer than traditional bakeware pieces that are made of "soda-lime" glass. While soda-lime glass bakeware can shatter or even explode when it reaches high temperatures or experiences large temperature changes, the borosilicate glass bakeware manufactured by Borolux is specifically designed to eliminate these worries.
A Borolux Bakeware spokesperson recently stated, "We are currently offering 2 bakeware pieces, a 9x13 baking dish, which is rectangular in shape and perfect for casseroles and lasagna, and a 9.5 inch pie dish." The company states that the bakeware line is made from an original and shatter-proof borosilicate glass formula.
While scientific studies and consumer complaints both have warned about the potential dangers of soda-lime glass bakeware, Borolux is set apart by their line of borosilicate glass products that are all designed not to shatter or explode even when exposed to high temperatures. Also, the products are naturally hygienic and will not absorb flavors or odors. In addition, the surface is resistant to stains, bacteria, and scratches.
Borosilicate glass is formed with boron trioxide and silica, giving it a very low coefficient for thermal expansion, which basically means that it is much more resistant to thermal shock than any other type of glassware product. The infusion of boron makes it a less dense product and gives it a higher melting point. Borosilicate glass is highly recommended for baking, and used by chefs all over the world as a means of cooking foods evenly and avoiding injuries that could result when using soda-lime glassware dishes for baking.
"Studies have shown that soda-lime glassware can only resist thermal stress failure for rapid temperature changes less than about 99ºF," states a Borolux spokesperson. "In contrast, borosilicate glassware, tolerated rapid temperature changes of 330ºF, over a three-fold difference."
Borosilicate glass is tested to be shatter-proof, even at temperatures that reach 650 degrees, and offer consistent, even cooking. A company spokesperson said, "What truly sets us apart is that all of our products are 100 percent made in the United States of America, and that's a fact that we're proud to share."
